September is here and, if you're in practice as a hypnotherapist, it's an excellent time to prepare for the holiday rush. New years resolutions are just around the corner. Among them are always stopping smoking and losing weight. It's amazing how busy the office gets in November and December. This year, I thought it would be a good idea to help YOU prepare for your personal resolution. I want to be the best person I can be and I'm sure you do as well. As we approach the New Year, we can use this time to set in motion an awesome 2004. What? It's still September! What is he talking about? Trust me, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Start your resolution planning NOW and set in motion the framework for an amazing 2004!

If you are a therapist (hypnosis or otherwise) why not introduce your clients to the idea of making a plan and sticking to it. I work with a number of business coaches and they all agree that you MUST have an outcome in mind in order to be successful. Here's what I suggest (you can do this for yourself or your clients):

1. Get a goal in mind. i.e. lose 15 pounds by Jan 1, start an exercise program on Jan 1, stop smoking on Jan 1, etc.
2. Set up logical, incremental steps to get from where you are now to where you want to be.
3. Have someone hold you accountable for your success (therapist, friend, significant other).
4. Make a hypnosis tape for each step. If you want to start a weight loss program on Jan 1, make a hypnosis CD to program you to do so and listen to it consistently between now and then. Or, if you want to start losing weight right now and have 15 pounds off by Jan 1, make a tape now to set yourself in motion. Then make a new one every week to push yourself to each new level of weight loss. If you want to stop smoking by Jan 1, make a tape to program yourself to stop smoking by Jan 1 and listen to it consistently between now and then.
